Ice:
Water in the frozen state. It is colorless and transparent. It crystallizes into a six sided form.

Ice: Clear: Clear and glossay and identical as glaze which forms on trees etc. It can be smooth or rough.

Ice Crystals Ice which falls in the forms columns, plates or needles.
ILS: Instrument Landing System.

Ice Needles: Another form of ice crystals.
Ice Pellects: Transparent or translucent round or irregular shapes pellets of ice having a 0.2 inch (5mm)or less.

Indian Summer: The first warm period in the fall after the first frost in New England. More than one period of Indian Summer can occur in the fall.

Insects: 1. Count the number of chirps for 14 seconds and add 40, this gives the temperature from the "Snowy Tree Criket". 2. 106 Degs. F., Insects are silent above this temperature. 3. 100 Degs. F., Bees are idle. 4. 84 Degs. F., Locusts sing above this temperature. 5. 60 to 85 Degs. F., Katydid Sings. 7. 58 Degs. F., Ants stay home below this temperature. 8. 52 Degs. F., Bees vicious below this temperature. 9. 46 Degs. F., Grasshoppers can't fly. 10. 42 Degs. F., All insects are silent. 11. 38 Degs. F., Insects are hepless.

Insoluation: Radiation from the sun that reaches the Earth's surface.
Instrument Shelter: A wooden box which houses various weather instruments for observing temperature, humidity, dewpoint.
This box has luvered sides for ventelation & prevents sunshine from entering.
Intermittent Precipitation: When precipitation starts and stops frequently








Inversion: When the temperature increases with altitude.
Isallobars:
Lines drawn on a weather chart showing the places of equal changes of pressure.
Isobar:On a surface wether map lines of equal pressure.
Isoheight: A line connecting all points of the same elevation. Same as contour line.
Isohyetal: Lines (lines of equal snowfall
Isoplething: Analysing for lines or areas of equal value.
Isohyets: Lines of equal precipitation
Isoline: A line of equal value.
Iospleths: (lines of equal value).
Isoshear: A line or area of equal wind shear.
Isotherm:On a weather map lines of equal temperature.
Isothermal: Equal or constant temperature.
ITCZ: - Intertropical Convergence Zone:: An area of thunderstorms located along the Earth's equator due to the convergence of the surface winds from the Northern & Southern Hemispheres.
