1. Photosynthesis: The process whereby plants utilize
sunlight, carbon dioxide and water to live and grow.
The by-product or waste is oxygen.
2. Plants take in sunlight though their leaves.
Carbon Dioxide enters the plant through tiny openings
in the leaf called:
**Stomata: Small Pore like openings.** |
3. Water enters the plant through their roots.
4. The sunlight, carbon dioxide and water work on bits
of matter in the leaf. These bits of matter in the
plant give it it's green color called" the plant through
tiny openings in the leaf called:
5. The outcome of the work from sunlight, water,
and CO2, is to produce sugar which is used in the
plant to grow and live. The plant inhales Carbon
Dioxide and exhales Oxygen
6. The process whereby the food for the plant
is produced, is called:
1. Photo: Meaning Light.
2. Synthesis: Putting together, or building.
3. Photosynthesis: Putting together or building
under the influence of light.
4. All Life depends on the process of photosynthesis.
5. All food we eat originates in the process of
photosynthesis.
1. Deciduous trees loose their leaves in the fall
and photosynthesis ceases.
2. Coniferous trees however, continue photosynthesis
in their green needles through the winter as long
as the leaf temperature remains above freezing.
3. About 200 sq. inches of green leaf surface produces
enough oxygen through the summer to supply one human
being for about one year.
