The Gulf Stream is a current of warm water which flows out from the Gulf Of Mexico between Florida and Cuba. It travels along the east coast of the United States, it swings eastward in the Atlantic Ocean. As it leaves the Gulf it is a very blue stream of water, 100 miles wide and several hundred feet deep. It is far larger then the Mississippi River. It travels as fast as 100 miles a day. It slows down as it moves northward. The temperature of the water is often 20 degrees warmer then the water beside it. It's western edge is call the "Cold Wall." Winds blowing across it blow warmth to some countries of Northern Europe and as far north as Labrador.
