Mr.Giannetta entered the National Weather Service Jan. 3 1957 at the
National Meteorological Center, Washington, D.C. when he was 20 years old.
At that time Mr. Giannetta was the youngest ever in the National Weather Service.
Mr. Giannetta's Weather and Meteorological education and experience is with the
National Weather Service.

Mr. Giannetta completed a three month course in Map Plotting & Analysis...Surface and
Upper Air Observations school with the NWS in 4 days...This was due to the fact he had built
an amateur weather station in his parents back yard and read and studied many books about
Weather and Meteorology from his high school and town libraries...

Mr. Giannetta completed many courses offered by the NWS...He also attended and completed
a course at the NWS Office, Sterling, Va. A couse in Meteorology with other students
that would go on to assignments to the North and South Poles.

Mr. Giannetta served in the "Army & Air Force"...While in the Army Mr. Giannetta
was assigned as a "DRAFTSMAN"....Completed "Basic Traing at "Fort Knox, KY...

While in the "Air Force"...Mr. Giannetta was assigned as a "METEOROLOGIST"....
to the "9107th Recocery Group"...Buffalo, NY...

Was "Homorabley Discharged" from the "Air Force"...

Mr. Giannetta retired from the National Weather Service in March 1992 with
35+ years of government service as a Meteorologist.

He entered the National Weather Service in January 1957 at the age of 20 years old.

Held a position at the National Meteorological Center, Washington, D.C.
from 1957 to 1961. While in Washington, D.C., he also held a
position with NASA.

He held a position with the:National Weather Service Forecast Office
located at Buffalo International Airport, Buffalo, New York from 1961 to 1971.

In 1971, Mr. Giannetta transferred to the National Weather Service Office at
Allentown- Bethlehem- Easton Airport now the Lehigh Valley International Airport
Allentown, Pa.from which he retired in 1992.

In 1992 Mr. Giannetta was offered the Meteorologist-In-Charge (MIC) position at the
National Weather Service Office located at the Wilkes Berra - Scranton, Pa. Airport (AVP).
his home town was Dunmore, Pa. USA.

He taught his Meteorology course at Moravian College Bethlehem, Pennsylvania
from 1992 to 1995.

From 1995 to 2013 he held a position at Northampton Community College Bethlehem,
Pennsylvania, USA., where he taught his Meteorology Course during the fall and
spring semesters when he retired with 21+ years as a Professor of Meteorology.

Surface & Upper Air Observations to 100,000+ feet above the earth. 4. Radiosonde (RAOB) Rawindsonde & Pilot Bolloon (PIBAL) Observations. 5. NOAA Weather Radio Broadcasting. Public Speaking. 6. Surface & Upper Air Observations: Map Plotting & Analysis 7. National Weather Service Radar: Radar Observering & Forecasting 8. NOAA Weather Radio: Live Radio & TV and Public Broadcasting 9. Knowledge of all Weather Instruments. 10. All aspects of all types of: Watches & Warnings: Thunderstroms Hurricanes-Floods-Tornados-Winter Storms-Blizzards-Droughts-High Wind Heat Waves. 11. Have conducted numerous tours at the different National Weather Service Offices which I worked at the: National Weather Service Forecast Office, Buffalo International Airport, Buffalo, N.Y., National Weather Service Office, Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton Airport now the Lehigh Valley International Airport, Allentown, Pa. Mr. Giannetta has received Certification as a "VE" Volunteer Examiner from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) through the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) to administer amateur radio tests to perspectice individuals to become licensed amature radio operators in the USA.,to operate amateur radios from there homes, autos, etc. You may view more information about Mr. Giannetta's Certification at "VE" Volunteer Examiner Mr. Giannetta pass the FCC exam for (VE) with a score of 100%. Mr. Giannetta has have been a licensed amateur radio operator since 1959. and holds the "Amateur Extra Class" license which givs me previleges to operate all amateur radio frequencies and radio modes authorized by the FCC. with the Call letters are: "WA3RSQ" Mr. Giannetta pass the exam for his Amateur Radio Extra Class License with a score of %100.




Currently he and his wife Virginia T. Hagerman Gainnetta own and operate a National Weather
Service Cooperative Weather Station which is located in their back yard in
Bath, Pennsylvania which he installed and he maintains.

Together they observer & record the daily max - min temperatures precipitation and
snowfall. This information is transmitted to the National Weather Service in Mt. Holly,
New Jersery each morning at 7am.

The "CDROM Weather Disk" has taken Mr. Giannetta many years and thousands
of hours to develop.




Throughout his career Mr Giannetta has conducted many lectures and weather
presentations at numerous grade - junior - senior high schools
and colleges.

He has conducted his lectures at many civic clubs such as the
Kawanis - Jaycees - Lions - Rotory, amateur radio clubs, church organizations and
news media.

He is currently active in his presentations to all of these groups.


During his career with the National Weather Service he conducted numerous tours
through the weather service for many diversified groups.

In October 1980 while working at the National Weather Service in Allentown, Pa.,
Mr. Giannetta participated in an open house at the National Weather Service Office
located at the Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton Airport now the
Lehigh Valley International Airport.Over
4,000 people jammed the weather office. The open house was
to run from noon to 4pm, however, it continued well after 6pm.

On hand to help with the open house was
Mr. Giannetta's wife Virginia and his daughter Virginia.

Mr. Giannetta received Certification as a "VE" Volunteer Examiner from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) through the Americal Radio Relay League (ARRL) to administer amateur radio tests to perspectice individuals to become licensed amature radio operators in the USA., to operate amateur radios from there homes, autos, etc.
I have encluded a copy of my certificate. I have been a licensed amateur radio operator since 1959. I hold the "Amateur Extra Class" license which givs me previleges to operate all amateur radio frequencies and radio modes authorized by the FCC. My Call letters are: "WA3RSQ"

Through the years Mr. Giannetta has been a member of all these civic clubs and
many amateur radio clubs.

In the past he organized the "21st Century Amateur Radio Club".
He also organized "The Six Meter Severe Weather Net" in Eastern Pa.,
which was affiliated with the National Weather Service at Allentown, Pa.

The net would meet on "6 Meters SSB" Sunday mornings 9am at a frequency
of 50.150 Mhz. The net consisted of 150 members in 5 states.
PA - MD- NJ - NY - CT.

During times of severe weather the "6 Meter Severe Weather Net"
would be activated and gather weather information and relay the information to
the National Weather Service Office located at the Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton Airport
in Allentown, Pa. USA.

There were many times the NWS at Allentown, Pa. would issued
"Weather Statements and Warnings" to the public and news media with information
provided by the "6 Meter Severe Weather Net".

Mr. Giannetta setup a "6 Meter SSB Amateur Radio Station"
inside the National Weather Serice Office at Allentown, Pa. During times of
severe or inclement weather he or another amature radio operator
would operate the station and receive severe weather reports from the members of
the "6 Meter Severe Weather Net".

Mr Giannetta was on duty for 33 hours at the National Weather Service Office,
Allentown Pa. during a severe "Winter Storm" which produced 24.0 inches of
snowfall on February 11, 1983 and 1.2 inches on February 12, 1983
for a total of 25.2 inches of snowfall to at the Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton Airport
in Allentown, Pa.

The "6 Meter Severe Weather Net" operated for 12 hours straight during this
"Winter Storm" relaying valuable weather information to the
National Weather Service Office at the Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton Airport.

June 24, 2000 Mr. Giannetta organized the "Giannetta Meteorological Society"

"Mr. Giannetta discovered his passion for Meteorology at the age of
12 years old". At that young age he formed a baseball team called the
"Warren Street Blue Devils" in his home town of Dunmore, Pennsylvania.

Many times the ball games would be rained out. This began to put a thought in his
mind if he knew what the weather was going to be like he could plan for
the baseball games.

His father "Charles Senior" bought a book which contained articles and stories
on how one could go about building amateur weather equipment such as rain
gauge, barometer, anemometer and others.

He began gathering material required to build some of these and built an

He would record the weather for each day in his journals and each
morning during his high school years would post the weather forecast
in his high school library for all to read, thus began his career
in Meteorology.
