ALMOST AN INCH OF RAIN BRINGS FOG, NO FLOODS BRIEFLY

The rain yesterday measured .87 inches in the Lehigh Valley and brought heavy fog but only light winds and no reports of flooding, according to the National Weather Service. The fog moved in about 4 p.m. yesterday but would dissipate, and visibility would improve, as cooler, dry air moved into the area late last night and early today, said Charles Giannetta, a weather service observer at Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton Airport. A total of 1.06 inches of rain fell, beginning late Saturday night and continuing yesterday. The high temperature yesterday was 45 degrees at 3:30 p.m. and the low was 37 degrees at 12:30 a.m.

Giannetta said some sprinkles of rain will be left over for today before a gradual clearing takes place. Daily high temperatures for the next few days will be about 40 degrees, but Friday the mercury will move into the mid-40s, he said. The low temperature last night was in the upper 30s, but for the next few days overnight readings will be in the mid-20s.
