TEMPERATURE FALLS SHORT OF RECORD FOR THE DATEBRIEFLY

The Morning Call

Valentine's Day record-tying temperature of 58 degrees was duplicated yesterday, but it was far from the Feb. 15 record of 71 degrees set in 1949, according to Charles Giannetta of the National Weather Service at the A-B-E Airport. As of 6 p.m. yesterday, 1.19 inches of rain had fallen at the airport. A total of 0.26 inches fell the day before. Total precipitation this year is 3.65 inches, below the normal of 4.94.

The Lehigh County communications center said yesterday it had received no calls for flood aid or basement pumping. The Little Lehigh breached its banks for a period of time and then subsided, according to observers. Sewage diluted with flood waters overflowed from manholes in the Keck's bridge area of the city's Parkway.
