Rainbows result from refraction, reflection, and refraction of sunlight
by water droplets.
As sunlight passes through the miniature prism of each rain drop. The light
ray is refracted as it enters the drop, is then reflected from the drop's
opposite side and is again refracted as it leaves the drop and passes
to our eyes.
Large droplets measuring about 1/25 inch or larger, form well defined
rainbows.
If the droplets are smaller, 1/100 inch in diameter, the colors and
definition of the rainbow are poor.
